Week 38

Happy Easter!  I'm a Father!

This week was awesome!! It was pretty crazy how much help we had from Heavenly Father!! So to start this off, we have been praying so much every single day for people to teach and for help to be able to strengthen our branch, because our branch has about 400 less active members that we have address's for, there are about another 100 that we have no idea where they went.

Monday- we went to emails and then our dinner appointment fell through, so we stopped and prayed for help to be able to have an opportunity to teach someone and for direction to be able to use our time well, and we had the thought to call Poveda. He is poamrongs brother, and he is less active, we haven't seen him in probably two months, and have only met with him a handful of times, but we went over, and he was home!! He didn't necessarily want to talk to us, but he let us come into his room, and we gave him a hard time for not coming to church haha, he said he was sorry and just has his priorities in different places right now. we had a super powerful lesson on the restoration, and he said he was going to pray to know if it was true. It was awesome. After that we went and contacted around his neighborhood to try to find Cambodians. No luck.

Tuesday- Started off normal. went to visit a couple potentials and find their friends around the areas, then went to district meeting. After that we went to do service for the Van Vliets, who are this senior couple that has been going over to the Cambodian branch from over the tunnel for 20 years. We got to clean their pool, it was sweet. Then they took us to the BEST sandwich place I have ever been to. It's called Ike's. They name all their sandwiches after famous people. I got a Michael Cain. Elder Hibbert got a Tom hanks. After that we went to pick up Sean to go teach prim and talk about a new baptismal date. No luck unfortunately... but after that lesson, we got a call. Who from? none other than THE President Frandsen! "Elder Tolman, I'd like to ask you to train starting next week". I will be father on wednesday! My son is coming straight from Cambodia!! (after the MTC). I am pumped.

Wednesday- We got to go teach Samey a quick Easter lesson, we were really grateful to finally track her down! After that we went Downtown for lunch with Moley again, we went to this awesome Vietnamese place! Next we went to town with our list of names from New Years, and unfortunately had no luck... rough day. We met this guy who's legal name is Gangsta though, he was out fixing his car, and said that we were "The real F'in church people" he said mad respect and then made up a cool handshake with us. super nice guy. Not Cambodian though, so referral for the AP's. That night we got to Bonath's house, and he happened to be home, so we didn't have to spend that last of the night out on the streets. Always a plus.

Thursday-  we spent the day finding! we met this one guy named Mao, but it turns out he is a members son that has been taught before! we had an appointment with his mom that night, it worked out great! we got there and he wasn't interested in learning again, but he loves to talk with the missionaries, so we got to know him a little bit. He said to stop by later and he would take us out to the habit and we could teach him a little there next week. cool. next we went out for dinner with the Len family! they are returned less actives of 15 years that were coming back when I got here, and they are the best. i love the Len's. That night we had a lesson with the Sok family, whose dad isn't a member. He is so awesome. he got up on the stage at Cambodian New year and started singing! He is one of my favorite people I have met, and he has been sitting in a bunch as we have taught his family, but we were finally able to add him as an investigator then!! We were soooo pumped, he has totally changed towards us since I got here.

Friday- We got to go see Peng Try!!! We haven't had a job with Peng in MONTHS, so we were super excited to see him. He is Preams brother in law, and Pengs wife sat in too, her attitude towards us is totally different than when I first met her too, it's super neat. We had a good lesson on Conference. next I had the new trainers meeting, it was super fun. I got to see Elder Pike!! He got ETed to San Francisco, so I haven't seen him in months!! We went to dinner at burger king with him and elder Barnett, who is an awesome missionary too, After that we had weekly planning!

Saturday- We got a referral from the AP's for someone named Sasel that lives in Pacifica, which is the coolest area to go to, it is the area next to the ocean. It is exactly what you would imagine when you think of a mission in California. He totally wasn't even home though. We were so bummed. we got to take a super cool trip out to the west bay though, it was great! for lunch we got big mac's and ate lunch by the beach (On the beach is out of mission boundaries). We went back to Oakland and went to see Sokhom plek, and true to her pattern she gave us tons of food and promised to come to church if we had someone pick her up. sweet. She is the sweetest little old Cambodian lady ever. Next we went to contact people, but no luck. We had dinner at the Yim's house next. Super good. they're a great family. We went to teach Pream after that with siphal, we talked and had a great quick lesson on the plan of salvation, he loved it. good things. After this lesson with Pream, I got a call from Mr. President once again, this time for a call to be a district leader! Exciting!
Sunday was great. Penny came to church, loved it. Best returning less active ever. After church we went to see a few less actives before Elder Hibbert left, and it was so cool. One, named Cynthia, we met for the first time, and immediately she told us how bad she felt for ignoring us and not coming to church, we were shocked. we told her that were just there to tell her that Her heavenly father loves and misses her. It was awesome. She is coming to family home evening tonight! super neat.

I love being a missionary. I am so grateful for the people I Meet here. This mission is the best thing i have ever done. I am so grateful for my Savior. Easter this year was so cool listening to people who have just started learning about Christ talk about him. I love you all, I have to go!!
