Week 3

Hello everyone! the last week has been awesome!! We've been teaching lessons almost every day, It's great!! Tuesday we had a devotional with a mission president from japan, it was good! I've been singing with the choir at devotional, and it's really fun.
On Wednesday we just talked to a bunch of new missionaries, which was fun. They were all really excited for MTC food, which we thought was funny since it's awful, but we didn't want to ruin the moment for them.
I saw Tyson Belnap!! I was so excited! we saw each other across some tables and ran up and hugged each other, it was awesome. I have seen so many people here that I know, I love it!!
Thursday we did a ton of stuff with script in Khmae and it was really stressful and hard. I'm not looking forward to how many hours I'm going to spend practicing that stuff.
Friday was good until like the end of the day when we found out that we had to teach a ton of lessons that none of us were really prepared for in our TRC class the next day.
It ended up being ok in TRC, we taught a guy named Colter, and he accidentally kept using english, it was really funny! Later we just worked hard in class the rest of the day!

It's really nice already knowing how a missionary should teach, because I can just practice picking out more of the language while we talk, and I can really understand whats happening all the time at this point, I love it! Make sure you go to mission Prep kids!!

Also, we play a lot of four square, and when the ball hits a line between two people, those two then battle it out to see who actually gets out. Elder Hinds and Elder Walker love to get all the elders playing all riled up by screaming "Battle!!!!" after almost literally every call. It's funny because they're very obviously just kidding, but people eventually start to actually just battle for no reason and then everyone gets really mad and into the game and really upset over a game of four square. It's funny!

I love you all, and I'm so grateful for the support and love from you!! I haven't got any mail in the last five days, so I'm really excited to go see all the nice things everyone sent me!! I hope you all have a wonderful week!!

With love,

Elder Cameron Tolman

Week 2 Pictures!

Week 2

Holy cow!  I can't believe how crazy the MTC is!  I've been teaching investigators almost every day in Cambodian!!  The language is still crazy hard, but I can carry a basic conversation now and am learning to read the characters!!!  We had a lesson on Monday that was our fourth lesson with an investigator named Boong Sokha, and we had an awesome lesson planned out, but right when we got there she was like "my husband hates the church so I can't meet with you anymore or he'll beat me".

My companion and I just looked at each other, and then Elder Hinds started reading about baptism while I looked up translations to what she said.  I figured it out and just sat there cause I had no idea how to reply to that in Cambodia, and then I just said "Elders will help!"  I didn't really know what that meant but she seemed pretty happy about it!  We both testified to her about how is she was obedient the Lord would soften her husbands heart.  We ended our lesson there and went out in the hall.  We were pretty frustrated since we didn't even teach her a lesson, and we only had one more chance to meet with her.  The next time we taught her, we talked about how the Holy Ghost testifies to us of true things, and about obedience to Gods commands.  We figured since she loves God, we could let her know about how Christ wa baptized just to show an example for all his followers, and that she is a follower of Christ, and that if she had the faith and courage to set a date to be baptized she would be blessed and her Husband would have a change of heart.  She committed to baptism after that!  I was so happy!  We came to class the next day to find out that that specific MTC investigator was actually one of our teachers!!  We were shocked!  Like we knew it was a mock-investigator, but she is teaching us now every day!!!

It's been so cool getting to know all the other elders here! there were a ton of Hispanic elders that were on the opposite side of the hall from us, and they always come down and talk to us, they're great. They do pull ups right outside our room, and they're hilarious. A bunch of them left for their missions this morning though... They'll do great!!

Ill be back on here at 3:30 if you want to talk! and I'll answer individual emails then too!

I love and miss everyone so much!! Please send pictures of things you do, I would love to stay updated on whats going on with everyone!!

Week 1

Hello!

The MTC is incredible!  The spirit is really strong all the time!!  I got here and was getting yelled at in Cambodian ten minutes later!  it was insane!  My companions name is Elder Hinds, he went to lone peak.  We're basically exactly the same with our personality and sense of humor!  We've had so many awesome spiritual experiences!!  Especially the talk by  Elder Bednar yesterday!  Right when it was done I stood up and yelled "Alright! Now I need to go baptize someone!"  It was awesome, and me and my companion went back to our room and planned out three lessons for our investigator!  Speaking of that, our first lesson was awful.  We went in knowing barely any Cambodian, and taught her who God and Jesus Christ are.  I guess she's not a real investigator, but she's a dang convincing actor.  We accidentally told her that we were Jesus Christ and that we were her sons, so she was pretty confused, but she let us set up another appointment, so we must have said at least one true thing!! The second lesson was awesome, the spirit was so strong!  We taught her abut how Jesus Christ and God love her so much, and we got her to pray at the end!  She had a couple questions that we had to look up answers for and how to say it, but it was good!!!  Cambodian literally is the hardest thing I've ever had to learn.  Good thing we're praying a lot, cause we need it.  All the people in my district are super fun, we play volleyball a lot and go walk around the temple. There are three sisters and six elders.  I saw Mitchell Nielsen, Devan Van Dyke, Josh Leigh, Harris LaChance, Josh Barney, Luke Kirby, and Braden Jepson.  It's so awesome!!!

The MTC is amazing!!!  I love everything here!! Except the class time where we sit in the classroom for 14 hours, that part gets old.  But I learn a ton of Cambodian there, so it's ok!

My companion's name is Elder Hinds, and I love him to death!!  We're so alike, it's crazy!!  I can't write very much this week, but please please please write me letters during the week!  I can send and read letters everyday!!!  My MTC address is  Elder Cameron Ellis Tolman

MTC

"Elder Tolman"

President Smith came to our home and set Cameron apart for his calling as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!  It was amazing!  We're so excited for tomorrow, he is SO ready!

Last Day at Home

We went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and did Baptisms.  I was able to baptize Nathan and Colson in behalf of 15 men who have passed away.

My choice for the last dinner with my family, Tocanos!

 Yum!
